Scope

This policy explains how the Somnus iOS and iPadOS app (“Somnus”) handles information and how the Somnus website hosted through GitHub Pages handles visits and support contact.

Health data Somnus accesses

With your explicit permission, Somnus reads Sleep Analysis data from Apple Health. This can include:

• sleep and wake timestamps;
• time asleep and time in bed; and
• Awake, REM, Core, and Deep sleep stages.

Somnus requests read-only access. It does not write to, modify, or delete your Apple Health records.

How the app uses data

Sleep data is processed on your device to display sleep duration and stages, calculate educational sleep-score estimates and sleep debt, identify trends, and provide related wellness insights.

Health data is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, data mining, credit decisions, or eligibility decisions.

Collection, transmission, and sharing

Somnus does not transmit your Health data or other app data to a developer-operated server. The app has no user accounts, advertising, analytics, telemetry, or third-party software development kits.

Somnus does not sell, rent, or share Health data with data brokers, advertisers, or other third parties.

Storage and retention

Your Health data remains in Apple Health. Somnus holds it in memory only while needed to calculate and display your results; it does not create a separate persistent database of Health records and does not store Health data in iCloud.

Somnus stores your sleep-goal preferences and onboarding status locally on your device until you change them or delete the app.

Your choices, consent, and deletion

You control whether Somnus can read Sleep Analysis data. You can withdraw that permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Somnus, or through Apple Health’s app access settings.

Deleting Somnus removes its locally stored preferences. Your original Health records remain in Apple Health and can be viewed or managed there. Because Somnus does not receive or retain your Health data on a developer server, there is no remote Health-data account to delete.

Support emails

If you email support, the developer receives the email address, message, and attachments you choose to provide. This information is used only to respond to your request, diagnose the issue, and improve Somnus.

Support correspondence is retained only while reasonably needed to resolve and document the request, then deleted when it is no longer needed. You can request deletion of your support correspondence by emailing ehsanr.web@gmail.com.

Website hosting

This static website does not set developer-controlled cookies and contains no developer-configured analytics, advertising, contact forms, or tracking scripts. It is hosted by GitHub Pages, so GitHub may process technical information such as IP addresses and request logs as the hosting provider under the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Links to external websites open outside Somnus and are governed by those websites’ privacy practices.

Security

Somnus minimises data handling by keeping its sleep analysis on-device and requesting only the Health permission needed for its core function. Device and Apple Health security controls continue to protect the underlying records.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Somnus features or data practices change. The date at the top of this page identifies the latest version. Material changes will be reflected here before or when the changed practice takes effect.
